Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile Escuela de Medicina

The mission of the Faculty of Medicine at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC) is to develop an educational project that serves the country. Its goal is to form health professionals of “Science and Conscience”, with quality standards equivalent to the best programs in the world.
In 1997, and in 2007 the Commission of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) of the United States visited the School of Medicine at PUC and examined the structure, function, and results of the Undergraduate Medical Education Program
The Commission concluded that if the School of Medicine at PUC were in the United States, it would be accredited for an eight-year period, and stated that the “School of Medicine at PUC would clearly rank in the upper third of all schools in Canada and the United States”.
The annual admission is of 120 students, selected among those with the highest national examination score. Our graduates have obtained the highest scores in the Chilean National Medical Examination test since 2003, when this test started.
